Mulch Delivery FAQ and Information

JK Enterprise Landscape Supply, LLC provides commercial and residential delivery throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area for all of our products. Bulk materials such as aggregates, stones, topsoil, and mulches are usually delivered in dump trucks. The size of the truck used for delivery depends upon the quantity ordered. We can accommodate any quantity request, with some minimum requirements. Standard delivery quantity for mulches is usually in the 10-30 cubic yard range, delivered in a single axle or tri-axle dump truck. We can also deliver up to 80 cubic yards by tractor trailer or walking floors. Topsoil blends and heavier bulk aggregates are usually delivered in tri-axle dump trucks in 7-20 cubic yards or 7-20 ton loads.

Bagged products and natural stones are usually delivered on a pallet using a flatbed truck with a forklift on the back. The palletized materials are offloaded with the forklift and placed on a hard surface. Standard delivery is usually one or more pallets of landscape materials.

When do we deliver?

We deliver Monday through Friday 7am to 6pm.

Do I need to be home to accept delivery?

No, you can leave written instructions on the front door, and or written notes on the delivery page. You can mark the area with chalk, “X” in duct tape, tarp, cone or upside down trash can with a sign on it. This gives the driver a visual and will make the delivery process easier.

Our drivers are instructed to go to the front door in absence of delivery notes.

HOW WILL I KNOW MY DELIVERY IS ON THE WAY?

Our drivers are instructed to keep in communication, and call with an estimated time of arrival. This is why we ask for a couple of phone numbers.

Will you deliver off the pavement?

This is very risky, and can cause severe damage to your property. If the ground is soft, the truck may get stuck, causing damage to personal property. The sides of an asphalt driveway can be crushed, when leaving the safety of a paved surface. The professional driver will make this judgement call at the time of delivery. In general, it is safer for everyone to have the trucks delivering on pavement.

Do you deliver when it rains?

It is almost inevitable that there will be some kind of precipitation event when you are ready for your order. It never fails. We deliver rain or shine and it does not hurt our products.

How are your topsoils screened?

Naturally-occurring Virginia Loamy-plained screened topsoil is processed through a 3/8″ screen.

All Topsoil is native to Virginia, contains sand, silt, and clay, and is finely screened through a 3/8″-1/2” screen. The screening will eliminate most large materials such as rocks, sticks, and large clumps of grass. Due to rain and humidity, topsoil may generate clumps even after the screening, which will break apart once it is spread out.

What is the maximum load you can deliver?

That depends on the product.

How are palletized materials delivered?

On a straight truck and unloaded with a moffett

What is the difference between wood chips and tot lot chips?

Our IPEMA Certified Engineered Wood Fiber (Tot Lot Chips) can create the ideal foundation for any play place! Tot Lot Chips are comprised of recently collected North American Hardwood materials such as Oak, Maple, Hickory, Ash, Birch, Poplar, Beech and Locust. There are no additives or chemical treatments present in the materials. The entire wood product is free of soil and other contaminants that promote faster decomposition. Playground Wood chips are random in size, approximately 5 times longer than they are wide. Playground Wood Chips meet the particle size requirements of ASTM 2075, the heavy metal and tramp metal ASTM 2075 requirements, the ASTM 1292 impact attenuation guidelines and the resistance to flammability requirements 1630/1631.

How many yards of mulch in a bag?

2 or 3 cubic feet. Approximately 5 yards per pallet.

When should I apply mulch?

Colored Mulch must be installed and be kept moisture-free for 24-48 hours. Moisture can be in the form of automatic watering devices or via inclement weather (Rain or Snow.) For ideal results, it is recommended that Color Enhanced Mulch be installed on bright, sunny days with no forecast of rain. JK Enterprise Landscape Supply, LLC is not responsible for mulch that fades or washes out due to exposure to excessive water.
